Week 34 of 365 Challenge Blue Week

It's amazing how many blue things we have around our house. Most of the images are obvious but picture 3 is of my jeans in the morning light shining through our blinds. 

The last pic is of a small wooden tugboat that my husband made years ago for our son.

I was hoping to catch some mist over a lake this week but I wasn't able to get to the lake after all so I ended up with only one outside shot this week. Picture 2 is of the mist on the hills behind my neighbor's houses. The light here is bluish on the cooler mornings but I added to the blue look by setting my white balance to incandescent, also known as tungsten on other makes of camera. 

This is a technique I've used before such as in this minimalist winter picture below. I really miss the lake near my old house. It was a great source of photographic inspiration and within walking distance of my old house. My new address has many advantages and I wouldn't want to move back but I do miss the lake.

Week 32 of 365 Challenge Flower Week

Flower week was the theme I swapped with silhouettes back in week 9 and I forgot to post that week here for some reason. I knew my numbers were out somewhere but couldn't figure out where until I shot the silhouettes.

I could have shot a huge variety of flowers for this week but as I live in a small town also known as "Rosetown" I thought I'd shoot all the beautiful roses that were in bloom in our public gardens.

They smelled wonderful.

Week 25 of 365 Challenge Yellow Week

Yellow week had it's ups and downs. I kept seeing this cute little yellow Swift car I wanted to photograph but every time I had my hands full or no camera with me, so I never got it in the end. My daughter's sunflowers have grown really big this year (2nd pic). She grew them from seeds she kept from last year's flowers. The plants originally came from her old school so it's nice that she's been able to keep a part of her old school with her since we moved. A reminder of friends and good times and beautiful too.

Next week is old week. My kids probably think I'm old but I promise it won't be a week of selfies :D

Week 12 of 365 Challenge Green Week

Green week wasn't one of my best. I really wasn't feeling it this week. I felt like I was continually running around taking a last minute snap instead of thinking about what I wanted to take and planning my shots. Not sure if it was the subject or if I was just busier than usual. Better luck next week I hope.

Week 5 of 365 Challenge. Texture week.

Next week is Numbers week and I'm quite looking forward to getting away from the house and the redecorating and getting out to look for numbers. Roughly the last 3 weeks has been spent working on redecorating our house. We'd still be at it but we ran out of paint and it seems like a good time for a break. I was starting to taste the paint in the last couple of days, yuck. 

What a difference a coat of paint makes to the look and feel of a room! My daughter's room before and after.

We've also repainted the downstairs spare room for my son and also the upstairs hallway. All of them were covered with an ugly brown wallpaper that must be from at least the 80's. It wasn't vinyl and was in good nick so we've painted over it all. Even the ceilings were yellowed with age. All part of buying an old house that needs work, I guess. At least it only requires cosmetic not structural work. That will come much later when the kitchen and bathrooms get done.

This week though is all about Spring cleaning and having another decluttering session.
